Orion Expedition Cruises was founded in 2005 with the mission of sharing some of the world’s most pristine places with our guests. In March 2014, Orion will officially join the Lindblad Expeditions-National Geographic fleet, the U.S.-based expedition company, offering Orion past and future guests access to expeditions around the globe.
"We are extremely excited about the opportunity to offer global expedition cruising to Australians and we intend to bring the full weight of our experience and that of National Geographic to the Orion organization and the ship", said Sven Lindblad, President and Founder of Lindblad Expeditions.
Lindblad Expeditions-National Geographic owns six ships: National Geographic Orion, National Geographic Explorer, National Geographic Endeavour, National Geographic Sea Bird, National Geographic Sea Lion, and National Geographic Islander. In addition, they charter vessels for seasonal expeditions. Destinations include Arctic Svalbard, Antarctica, Alaska, Baja California, Central America, Galápagos, the Amazon, New Zealand, Africa, British Isles, Egypt, Europe, the Mediterranean, the Pacific Northwest and South America.
Like Orion, Lindblad Expeditions-National Geographic has a strong affinity with the environment with the belief that a traveller's experience can be life-changing—leading to greater understanding, appreciation, and stewardship of the world and its oceans.
Plans are underway for the number of specialist expedition team members to be increased; scuba facilities will be added for specific 2014 voyages, and a remote underwater camera will provide guests a window into life beneath the ship. All enhancements reflect Lindblad-National Geographic's reputation as the most respected expedition cruise company in the world—now Orion's world as well.
We would be delighted to have you join us in exploring some of the most wonderful and seldom-seen places on Earth.
