Trip of a life time, submitted by Reed Southerton |
| Antarctica was nothing short of amazing on 26 January, 2011 |
I sailed on the Orion to the Ross Sea region of Antarctica, the most unforgettable 3 weeks of my life!
I loved every minute of it, from boarding in Hobart - Australia, first sight of the Antarctic continent and stepping of the ship in Christchurch - New Zealand.
Some of my many highlights were enjoying 5 star meals breakfast, lunch and dinner every day, actually seeing an Emperor Penguin face to face and feeling to raw power of the Southern Ocean from the comfort of the Orion.

Trip of the senses, submitted by Carol & Geoff Page |
| Russian Far East on 4 July, 2011 |
Thank you to all the crew on this great cruise, from Captain Mike to the Zodiac Crews who ensured we arrived at amazing stops safely and the rest of the crew who helped make our trip fun and memorable.
The final stop at Tyuleny Island where all the senses were working overtime, was exciting and amazing. The large Steller Sea Lions, the thousands of Northern Fur Seals and the multitude of birdlife on this tiny Island was an unforgettable sight to all, including the expedition team.
Fantastic cruise again.

Thank you Orion for a wonderful journey. Thank you Justin for putting in all the work to enable us to journey through so many wonderful villages and receive such warm welcomes! Their smiling, laughing faces will be with us always. Cant wait to see you all again in Dec for our Antarctic journey. Thanks Mick for your wonderful lectures on Volcanoes, Earthquakes, Tsumamis and Tectonic Plates! And thanks to all the wonderful passengers we met and had fun with. Hunter still mentions you and calls you "Our Family". But please dont expect Xmas presents!!!! Looking forward to our next adventure on Orion II in July. All the best, Ricci, Darren and Hunter

| Tasmanian Wilderness on 1 December, 2010 |
Sarina Bratton -you have shown a woman can do anything with vision and determination. From the Norwegian Star -though short lived in Australia,- The Orion, and now Orion 11.
I thoroughly enjoyed my return to The Orion, and with 47 cruises now to my credit, I feel I am able to judge the experience and would give it 10/10. Thank you for the log of the journey, so handy to show to friends who ask many questions....

Cruise of a lifetime, submitted by Ingrid & Phil McCulloch |
| Antarctica on 11 December, 2008 |
I won this trip and it was double luck because this was a destination we had wanted to go to but thought it was a fantasy. Weather was fantastic (shame about not having sea legs), the food delicious (extra kilos accumulated), the staterooms and services luxurious, fellow passengers a pleasure and crew exceptional. I'm not a cruise person but this was the only way to go.

Fantastic Orion Expedition, submitted by Patricia and Bob Wilson |
| Lord Howe and Aotearoa on 30 October, 2008 |
There were three main highlights on the voyage which captivated us. The first was White Island, which was way beyond our expectations, to be so close to the volcano belching forth steam, sulphur streams and the crater filled with acid was just amazing.
The second was the beautiful flora in Springtime in NZ. The roses, the native flowers, the trees, the gardens of private houses all were spectacular.
The third was, of course, the wine and food, both on board Orion and in the local vineyards, neither could be faulted.
Thank you Orion for another interesting voyage, we will be back

| Kimberley East /West on 18 August, 2008 |
We thoroughly enjoyed our trip on the Orion, we could not fault the service and friendliness, it was 110% from the time we arrived at the port in Darwin until we departed at Broome. Each day seemed to get better and better. This was a long awaited trip after just retiring and we could not have wished for a better experience. We have been singing the praises of the Orion to everyone we meet and keep vewing our photo's to remind us of the fabulous time we had.

Kimberley Orion Trip, submitted by Mal Hutton |
| Kimberley East and West on 18 June, 2008 |
Late June 2008 – Kimberley East and West
Fabulous trip – not cheap, but excellent value for money. Great scenery, with the guides making everything more interesting through their explanations. The photo shows me with the fish I caught, prepared by chef Lothar Greiner (on the right) for our meal the night after the catch. I am a non-fisherman. If a fisherman goes out for three hours and catches two fish, he has had a bad day. If a non-fisherman like me has that happen, it is a thrilling event, and if the best of those two fish (a Baldchin Groper) is then prepared by someone else for me and friends to eat, then just how wonderful is that!

Snorkelling Palau Kera, submitted by Charles Wade |
| Kimberly East and West on 30 May, 2008 |
This was quite one of the best holidays my wife and I have ever undertaken.
Everything in the superlatives.Stewards were great fun especially Arnold.
The only low was snorkelling at Palau Kera;due to the low tide we had to walk out some way with nasty crowns of coral hidden in seaweed.
We are hoping to join Orion again Singapore-Saigon

The whole trip was incredible. I couldnt have dreamed of a better holiday. The staff, the ship, the food, everything 5 star all the way.I gave the trip 99.99 out of a hundred and you only lost that point because on disembarkation someone broke the handle off my suitcase. Unfortunately Orion doesnt go any where else I want to go so I may not have the pleasure of sailing with you again. If you ever go somewhere I just have to go you will be the first people I call. A special trip, submitted by Chris Perkins |
| Papua New Guinea Highland Expedition on 5 April, 2008 |
Just wanted to say to say what a special experience I have had travelling through Papua New Guinea on Orion.
We have visited some of the most fascinating islands and have experienced the raw and real culture of Papua New Guinea. Places that I have only read about have been brought to life and I feel very lucky to be part of such an exciting expedition.
All this is made possible by the ship and its fabulous crew and has been enhanced by the warmth and hospitality of my fellow adventurers
An unbelievable experience

Great Experience, submitted by Deena Dietrich |
| Melanesia on 28 February, 2008 |
What a great experience traveling on this amazingly beautiful ship with such a friendly and professional staff. The expedition team is outstanding, answering all our questions about the area, flora and fauna with interesting lectures and history of the area and setting our expectations which were always exceeded. Visiting islands where they seldom see white people and see how primative this part of the world remains is an eye opener. They seemed to be as interested in us as we were in them. I could happily stay onboard and keep visiting all these great out of the way places still unspoiled by the modern world while enjoying the 5+ star service the ship provides every passenger. We had an amazing and memorable trip. Can't wait to travel on the Orion again!

Real expedition, submitted by David Beechey |
| Melanesia on 28 February, 2008 |
what I wanted out of this expedition was real adventure and boy did we get it.
After working hard the first three days at sea were perfect getting to know your fellow passangers and enjoying the fantastic ship and the crew from the captain down all so friendly.
Then once we reached land the real adventure started I have never been so dirty and wet but what fun climbing a active volcano swimming in warm waters, and some of us dancing with the local people.
Then after a full day adventure we would arrive back on Orion clean up get ready for a great evening in 5star comfort what more could I ask for just perfect!!!
At the end of the expedition all I could think about was doing it again next year still dreaming.
Thankyou Orion for me having the trip of a life time.

Orion, submitted by Truus Biddlecombe |
| PNG Highland Cultures on 15 March, 2008 |
The highlight was the people and the out of the way places we were taken to. Most excursions were well organised and informative but we were disappointed with some aspects of the Mudman tour in relation to the cost. Snorkeling was great even when it was raining!Walking the volcano near Rabaul was eery and amazing! Service on board was excellent and food plenty and of good quality considering the length of the journey.

My Trip on Orion, submitted by Melanie Bernstein |
| Melanesian and Solomon Islands on 28 February, 2008 |
I am currently onboard Orion almost at the end of a truly fanastic Melanesian and Solomon Islands Expedition. We started in Auckland and spent the first few days at sea where the time just seemed to fly as we enjoyed the wonderful Orion Experience on a beautiful ship being served by wonderful staff and enjoying lectures on different subjects by experts who were very interesting. Listening to the various comments onboard partly explains the experience. The comments ranged from 'I thought it couldn't get any better and then the next day arrived and it was better than the day before', 'one of the special things about Orion besides the wonderful destinations and the beautiful ship is the fact that I have learnt so much', 'Orion should bottle what they have it is just so special'. We visited a volcano on Tanna Island, we visited villages and had traditional welcomes. We marvelled at the innocence and exitement of the locals when we arrived. We snorkeled at Marova Lagoon, we had a Beach BBQ at Kennedy Island, Dolphins played around us on the zodiacs and so it went on and on. Unfortunately for me, my Expediton ends in Rabaul the day after tomorrow but it has been an experience I will always remember.

Antarctica - What really goes on down there, submitted by Steve McLaughlin |
| Antarctica - Commonwealth Bay on 12 December, 2007 |
I wanted to write a little and share a snapshot from my journey.
I understood quite clearly from the outset that this was going to be an educational expedition as well as an enjoyable one. The educational element turned out to be a much better experience than I had hoped for. The lecture program was extensive, well thought out and professionally executed onboard.
We were blessed with a mix of different weather (as promised!). We had several days of really high winds and rough seas which left some people feeling out of sorts. The lions share of the voyage though we had smooth seas and a lot of sunshine. I actually caught too much sun in two of the destinations even with my factor 30 on.
In recent times to get to the "Australian" part of Antarctica you would have to rough it on an old and somewhat uncomfortable ice-breaker. Orion brings a sophistication to this journey that has never seen before.
I encourage anyone who has ever dreamt of making this epic journey to do so – and soon. Orion Expedition Cruises has really made this an enjoyable and exhilarating option for people like me who have been most places and are still looking for the next BIG TRIP.
