PAPUA NEW GUINEA |
Orion will be visiting Papua New Guinea for one season during March and April 2011.
The season will include three sailings, two voyages featuring the popular PNG Cultural Highlights itinerary and the third an exciting all new West Papua and Maluku expedition visiting many rarely visited places across the north of PNG and West Papua that even Google struggles to provide in-depth information.
PNG Cultural Highlights - 23 March 2011
This round trip from Cairns allows travellers to experience historic World War II sites, tropical islands, exotic bird and marine life, primitive artworks, active volcanoes, the colonial atmosphere of Madang and a rare visit to a remote village near the Sepik River where the friendly welcome and cultural displays will overwhelm you!
PNG Australian Geographic Photography Expedition - 3 April 2011
Also departing and returning to Cairns, this voyage offers the opportunity to join the photographic workshop of a lifetime!
You can hone your photographic skills and capture all the action in one of the world's most picturesque locations. Two master photographers, Nick Rains and Peter Eastway will guide you with their capable hands.
West Papua and Maluku - 14 April 2011
'Remote' is an understatement for this navigation from Cairns to Darwin. Travel around Papua (previously named Irian Jaya) and over 'the birds head' of West Papua to the equator before travelling through the Maluku Islands to arrive in Darwin. On this inaugural voyage, witness mysterious ceremonies and experience the hues of a thousand cultures from the islands and archipelagos.
All Orion expeditions include an Australian operated charter flight from Rabaul so effectively start or finish in Cairns, making the experience more accessible to you.
